“Bronies!” closes to rave reviews
“Bronies!” completed its Third Street Theatre run to unanimously positive reviews:
LA Bitter Lemons: 100% sweet!
BroadwayWorld.com: “I can see why it resonated with so many people. It's fun, it's uplifting, and its optimism will put a smile on your face whether you like it or not. Full of silliness of the sincerest kind, it's a sweet show that simply makes you happy.”
LA Times: “If it doesn’t turn you into a brony, “Bronies” will make you a fan of this winsome production.”
StageSceneLA: “The charming musical-in-the-rough that was Bronies: The Musical at this past summer’s Hollywood Fringe Festival has since been polished into the sparklingly rainbow-hued gem now getting its official World Premiere Production at the Third Street Theatre. Simply put, Bronies: The Musical is the feel-best show in town.
Neon Tommy: “"Bronies: The Musical" is definitely a must-see; you may even walk away a brony yourself. During and after the show, it is impossible to stop smiling. This show is about ponies but it is not just for children, it is for everyone (everyone over 13, that is). Yes, it features sparkly, mythical creatures, but they are hilarious and extremely talented mythical creatures. Yes, it reminds the audience to be nice and love who they are, but everyone needs to be reminded of that once in a while. "Bronies: The Musical" is a special quirky treasure that you do not want to miss out on. ”
Plus, an interview on how “Bronies” came to be, with a soundbite from MG:
LA Weekly: “And it's not just the musical's writers who were sucked into the world of Bronies. Some of the actors have fallen for the show as well. Molly Gilman plays Paige, a "pegasister," or female MLP fan, who befriends the play's nerdy protagonist on a message board. "I just finished season 2 [of Friendship Is Magic] and am totally on board," she says.”
The “Bronies!” adventure continues with the recording of the cast album, soon to be released!
